Job Title: System Engineer
Reporting To: Technical Manager
Job Type: Full-Time | Mid-Level Technical Role
Job Summary:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive System Engineer to support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of server and system infrastructure for enterprise clients. The ideal candidate will have experience with Windows and Linux environments, virtualization, backup solutions, and basic cybersecurity best practices, ideally within an IT system integration or services firm.
Key Responsibilities:
System Deployment & Management:
• Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux).
• Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and user authentication services.
• Implement and maintain virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Support & Troubleshooting:
• Monitor system performance and proactively resolve system issues and alerts.
• Provide Level 2/3 technical support for server and infrastructure-related incidents.
• Collaborate with the helpdesk and network teams to ensure seamless IT operations.
Backup, Security & Patching:
• Ensure regular backup and disaster recovery readiness using tools like Veeam, Commvault, etc.
• Apply security patches, updates, and hardening practices in compliance with policies.
• Support endpoint security, antivirus, and server-level protection.
Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain updated system configurations, asset records, and SOP documentation.
• Generate reports on uptime, utilization, and incidents for internal and client reporting.
Project Participation:
• Participate in infrastructure rollouts, migrations, upgrades, and client onboarding projects.
• Work closely with project managers, architects, and vendors for smooth project execution.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in system engineering or IT infrastructure roles.
• Previous experience with system integrators or managed services providers is preferred.
Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policies.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Devops).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure or AWS) is a plus.
• Knowledge of Linux server administration is an advantage.
• Backup & DR tools (e.g., Veeam, Acronis, Commvault) experience preferred.
Certifications (Preferred/Required):
• Required: Microsoft Certified (e.g., MCSA, Windows Server) or equivalent
• Preferred: VMware VCP, Azure Fundamentals, or ITIL Foundation
