Purpose of Job

  • The Managing Director (MD) will be responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic oversight, and executive management of the Company’s domestic and international investment portfolio.

  • The MD will safeguard and enhance the value of state-owned assets, particularly international hospitality and commercial investments, while ensuring compliance with Government of Pakistan policies, public sector governance standards, and international regulatory requirements.

  • The role requires an experienced public-sector-oriented corporate leader with substantial exposure to government stakeholders and the ability to operate across multiple jurisdictions through regular domestic and international travel.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Management

  • Formulate and execute the Company’s long-term strategic vision in alignment with Board directives and national policy objectives.

  • Lead performance enhancement initiatives across domestic and international subsidiaries.

  • Optimize investment portfolio returns while safeguarding public assets.

  • Identify restructuring, divestment, partnership, and expansion opportunities.

Government & Institutional Interface

  • Serve as the principal liaison with Federal Ministries, regulatory bodies, and oversight institutions.

  • Ensure alignment of corporate strategy with Government of Pakistan directives and SOE governance frameworks.

  • Present performance updates, strategic plans, and compliance reports to the Board and relevant authorities.

Financial Stewardship & Governance

  • Maintain full P and L accountability and financial oversight the company and its subsidiaries.

  • Develop tax-efficient and compliant corporate structures across jurisdictions.

  • Strengthen internal controls, audit systems, compliance mechanisms, and enterprise risk management frameworks.

  • Ensure adherence to applicable public sector corporate governance rules and international regulatory standards.

Legal & Regulatory Oversight

  • Advise the Board on all legal and regulatory matters affecting organization and its subsidiaries.

  • Oversee compliance with laws and regulatory frameworks in Pakistan and foreign jurisdictions where the Company operates.

  • Supervise legal risk management and cost controls relating to litigation and contractual matters.

International & Domestic Travel Requirements

  • Undertake regular domestic and international travel to oversee overseas investments, particularly hospitality assets.

  • Conduct on-site performance reviews of foreign subsidiaries and engage directly with local management teams.

  • Represent company in high-level meetings with international partners, regulators, investors, and advisors.

  • Travel to North America, Europe, and other jurisdictions as required to protect and advance the Company’s commercial and strategic interests.

  • Engage with diplomatic missions and government representatives abroad where necessary.

Administrative & Executive Oversight

  • Provide leadership to executive management teams and ensure alignment with corporate objectives.

  • Review and oversee union, labor, and employee agreements related to subsidiary operations.

  • Direct international marketing and brand positioning strategies.

  • Lead succession planning, executive evaluation, and institutional strengthening initiatives.

  • Undertake special assignments as mandated by the Board of Directors.

Minimum Academic or Professional Qualifications or Working Experience

  • MBA, Master’s in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or equivalent from an HEC-recognized reputable institution.

  • Additional certifications in corporate governance, public policy, international taxation, or executive leadership will be an added advantage.

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive professional experience.

  • At least 3 to 5 years in a C-level or equivalent senior executive leadership role.

  • Prior experience in a Public Sector Enterprise (PSE), statutory body, government-owned entity, or a large organization with significant government interface.

  • Demonstrated experience managing overseas operations or international assets preferably in North America and or Europe.

  • Proven track record in strategic restructuring, asset optimization, financial turnaround, and stakeholder alignment.

  • Proven ability to balance public sector accountability with commercial performance objectives.
