Syed Ali Azhar
Syed Ali Azhar (1952-2016) was one of the pioneers of specialized human capital management services in Pakistan. When he founded HRS (now HRSG) in 1992, Azhar envisioned the organization as an innovative, full-service HR solutions firm driven by product excellence and client satisfaction—and he made that vision a reality. He actively led executive recruitment, client relationships and marketing initiatives for the firm, and was a top consultant to business leaders at a number of Fortune 500 and prominent Pakistani companies.
Prior to founding HRSG, Azhar held leadership roles at top multinationals and Pakistani conglomerates, where he led human capital management and strategy. He served as regional general manager, and later as group vice president, at the Arfeen Group, country manager for Inchcape Pacific in Pakistan, and as the head of human resources at Merck Sharp & Dhome Ltd and Pakland Cement.
Affectionately known as Jerry, Azhar is remembered fondly as a charismatic leader and mentor by his friends, family and colleagues, and the many whose careers he helped shape.
